I have just upgraded to the latest version and when I add a source it fails to finish, sometimes it tells me there are bad folders etc other times it just freezes, I have reinstalled the older version 2.4 and it scans the folder fine and adds all tracks and folders - I do have a very large collection, probably in excess of 100,000 tracks but it has always worked with the old version - could this be a database issue?

Maybe you can post the error messages or the log (see Extras/Console) here.
Or maybe you can even find out the problematic files by adding only parts if your library? If so, you can send them to us and we can fix the problem.
EDIT: The upcoming Silverjuke Version 15.9 has a significant improved folder scanner which will should fix these problems.
