EDIT: Due to various reasons, the skin contest will end two weeks earlier, on 1 December 2008, 12:00 GMT.

We hope, this will not result in any problems ;-)

Best regards,

I have two question since several days in my had, and I want to discuss them with all of you:

1.I know that we are talking here about a Skin Contest (we want to find and honour the best Skin) but isn't it better to change to a "Skinner contest" (to find the best Skinner (the person))?
Background: As I can see out of the discussions here in the forum and also out of "private" discussions with other skinners, a lot of us are working on several Skins for the contest, but we have to know that the more sins we are sending, the less chance we have to win with one, because the votes are splitted over the skins. And this means the most creative and hard-working skinner is handicapped. So the Skinner has to decide which of his Skin he/she will send to the contest, and this is in my eyes a lost of creativity.

Additionally can we run in a situation (not probable due to the number of skinners, but possible) that one skinner is taking all (or several) prices which is in my eyes counter-productive.

I'm also thinking on Skins which are only interesting for a few number of user (due to resolution, special function, and so on), but still really nice. These skins would not have any chance to win. But it would be a pity to loose these good skins/ideas.

What do you think?

2. I have skins with different versions (resolution, touch screen - normal screen, etc). These should be considered as one skin within the contest, or?

Thanks for your comment.

Hi Frenchi,

But concluding from your own post there should not be any problem: the skinner winning the highest number of prizes should _be_ the best skinner, and the change of multiple wins should stimulate us all into sending in as many skins as we can!

(Sorry - could not resist... :-) :-) :-) )

But seriously: I thought some time ago myself whether I would suggest different categories with each only one prize, I would like that idea. Like for instance "usability", "touchscreen" and "freeform". I'm quite sure nobody would win all those and if they would it would certainly be deserved...

(By the way: I'll have to increase my productivity if I want to be able to win many prizes, currently I'm only certain of two skins I'm entering ;-) ).

SilverEagle

Hello Frenchi,
hello SilverEagle,

thank you very much for your ideas. Although Frenchi may be right and SilverEagle may have a solution, we think it is too late to change the rules for this contest. Let's see, how this contest will work at all.

However, we will keep all these points in mind, maybe for the next contest ;-)

Your Silverjuke-Team

Yes, I think we won't treat minor changes as an own skin. However, maybe, they can be offered as "one package".

Hi Team,

Maybe you would like to change one small detail if your budget allows: give the first place one of these exclusive T-shirts as well. Now we're not sure if we have to aim for a first or a second prize: as a conversation piece a printout of an amazon voucher doesn't ring the same as a T-shirt ;-)

Hello SilverEagle,

well, if the first price winner wants an additional T-Shirt, he/she should feel free to contact us then ;-)

Ok, I agree, now it's too late to change the rules.

Well, let us first finish the current contest ... The next? If the current one is going to be a great success - maybe December 2009? We have no idea for this at the moment.
