Is there a way when playing from a playlist to automatically go to the current track when the song changes?

Just hit the little start on the very right of the "A-Z" bar:
You can also go to the current track after a given timeout automatically: see "Settings / Playback / Automatic control / Further options / Go to current track after ... minutes of inactivity":
