Sorry, maybe I'm too brief in explaining what is happening.
Running beta 16.3.3 at home and running beta 16.3.2 on my laptop at work (both on Windows 7)
Scenario:
I've several tracks in the list.
Track 1 is currently playing.
I set the windows volume at a very low value (like 6%).
Next I use the button >> to interrupt the currently playing track and to proceed with the next track in the list.
That next track starts playing at a very different volume level as the previous played track.
At home the new volume level is 40%, on my laptop at work it's 97%.
The EQ on my laptop at work isn't active (no "Use Equalizer" checkbox ticked at the FX page tab "Equalizer").
When I don't skip to the next track, the volume setting remains at the level 6%.

Thank you for the details.
However, we cannot reproduce this at all currently. If we have a look at the source code, there are not many situation, we can imagine an error. Do you have sleep mode enabled? (the sleep mode also alters the main volume, however looks good for us). Are you sure, there are no scripts envolved? (automatically loaded scripts should appear at "Help / Console"; please also make sure, you're using the standard skin without scripts (Silveriness).
Another idea: Do other settings for "Use system volume" (see "Settings / Advanced / Further options") make a difference?
Another question that may be very helpful for us: Does the Volume slider reflect the new volume, has it moved?

Thanks, okay, it's the window mixer slider.
Does it "slide" or "jump" to the new position?
And can you please check at "Help / Console" that no scripts are loaded?
We would need Sherlock Holmes here ...

It is so much easier troubleshooting when a problem can be reproduced.
