I am an editor on the MusicBrainz database, and use MusicBrainz Picard to tag all my music. Consequently I benefit from having the "Album Artist" tag as well as the "Artist" tag in my files. This makes grouping of compilation albums much more intuitive. Currently, I have a couple of hundred songs in the collection which get split from their proper albums and thrown into the "Unknown" category at the end of the list, even though all the information is there to put them in the right place.
For example, I might have an album by David Bowie with all the tracks associated with the correct album, except one which has "David Bowie & Mick Jagger" in the artist tag. The file still has "David Bowie" as the album artist, but it gets separated and treated as a single track and placed in the unknown category.
Is there currently a workaround for this?
Please add support for the "Album Artist" tag
Re: Please add support for the "Album Artist" tag
I use album artist too, I do the editing in Musicmonkey and then it sorts fine in Silverjuke...
Re: Please add support for the "Album Artist" tag
I have the same problem. I have solved it by doing some editing: Cut the additional artists and copy them into the "comments" box of that song. Their names will also be displayed in the title information in album view.

Neither of these solutions is practical with a very large music library. This is why the Album Artist tag exists
