Did you ever look into the Last.fm plugin? While it is only one-way (SJ to Last.fm, AFAIK it is not possible to download it's suggestions back to SJ) you might be able to use it.

The problem with stuff like Genius is that it needs enough userdata. Last.fm is big enough, and we certainly don't have to doubt if iTunes' userbase can pull it off, but Silverjuke on its own is probably too small.

That being said it would be a nice idea if we could download Last.fm suggestions back to SJ (the titles I mean, not the complete songs), but some googling suggests this is not their financial model so not cleanly possible.

yes, would be awesome if silverjuke could get lastfm suggestion and use them as ipod does with genius.

I use last fm pluggin and it's really good, i'm loving it and discovering so much stuff everyday.

...after I read the API some more I cannot see why it wouldn't be possible. Seems googling can turn up rubbish if the person doing it is a bit sleepy .

One thing which would be hard to implement is downloading new songs to SJ, but something like creation of playlist based on previous preferences or current selection might be possible after all.

What exactly would you as a user expect SJ to do for you? Keep in mind that my iPod experience is extremely limited, lets say 10 minutes all together from which 5 were spend fighting the menu system (nobody told me you could 'rub' the circle ), so you have to spell it out for me.

Basically, ipod genius work this way : you play one song, you run genius and it starts a playlist with the same kind of music. It actually works really well...

I've got the last fm plugin, thank you so much for doing it, it's really good...

It could probably works this way :

Possibility to set a "last fm autoplay mode".

When i go to my LAst FM profile, i can see the actual artist being played. When i clic on it, i've got a selection of similar artist. SJ could use that.

When you play a song with SJ, SJ would read in Last FM database a similar artist and play one of his song after the current track.
We could use the actual feature "autoplay, avoid the same artist being played during 30min".

Maybe it sounds crazy, but i just think that could be interesting, that would be really easy to make playlist on the go, just by starting with an artist.

But once again, don't know if it is technically double.
