Left hand Menubar

I recently held a party and was trying to encourage people to use the Jukebox, however I found that people were put off with having to trawl through lots of albums they had no interest in and soon left!

I believe people loose Interest if they have to see a lot of music that doesn’t relate to the “flavour” they are seeking

I have also been asked by customers if they can see a list of Artists/Bands to enable them to make a music choice!

I feel that that an option to have a left-hand menubar that could be switched between Artists, Genre, Music Selection, and Internet Radio Stations would alleviate that and be a very welcome and sought after addition to the SJ!

I am aware that the majority of what is being asked is available through Scripts and the skinning method! But this does not help me or my customers!

PS. I install Home Automation & Entertainment systems into people’s homes and am trying to promote SJ as a home Jukebox system for customers with little or no computer literacy.

I am aware that the music selection option does split the library into separate choices! But to have the whole selection available with the majority of people not knowing about or being able to use the music selection option is tiresome. I have personally started using the command line options Instead of the Music Selection option as I find browsing a selection of music far more comfortable if they are held together in one group as opposed to being scattered within a huge selection!

I believe a menubar that can be hidden to the left hand side of the screen and switched between a list of Artists, Genre, Music Selection, and Internet Radio Stations would help me no end in promoting Silverjuke into people’s homes!

PS. Still think SJ Is the best Jukebox option on the market..! Thanks you for all of your hard work!

If you create you own skin, you can add such a menu bar, just add buttons like

<button onclick="program.musicSel='bla';" ... />

I'm Sorry B, but I did mention in the Post that:

I have very little knowledge regarding scripting and skinning, and what would take me a month to try, I am sure someone with the 'know-how' could do it in no time!

OK! Hands up..! I am not worthy!!!
I have spent the last few days learning by trial & Error after Error!!! how to create a skin for SJ, and can't describe how good it feels to want something..., work out how to piece it together, and come up with the goods!
PS. first time at skinning (I'm an abosulute newbie!!

I now realise that the team have more to do on bigger & better projects!

As this is an old post, I'm sure by now you've seen Frenchi's excellent "Graphite" and "Classic Box" skin. Both allow display of Artist List, Genre List and Year in the left hand column. (Right column too on "Classic Box"

And do not forget the "Alu" and platinium" skins, which have the same function .
