I can now say, it's not a hoax. Listen to Silverjuke on Vista, a jawdropping difference!

Thanks Sjettepet.... I knew bit perfect sounded a "bit" different.....

Re: ASIO4ALL
Yes it does, but of course Silverjuke on Vista is not by definition "bit perfect", but the Vista audio stack is so much better than that of XP. It does upsample, and is comparable to the Foobar -> ASIO or KS -> Secret Rabbit Upsampling set up that so many audiophiles favour.
Silverjuke, as far as I know, does not offer the possibility of bitperfect transfer, neither internally nor through the use of an external player.
Silverjuke on Vista offers the best of both worlds I.M.O. but the drawback is that Vista's hardware requirements are so high that the idea of using an old PC for a jukebox no longer works.
There must be some golden middle way. What would be the hardware requirements for XP - Silverjuke - KS/ASIO (and some upsampling maybe?).

Re: ASIO4ALL
I'll appreciate the support of ASIO. If you compare the sound via K-Mixer with direct ASIO sound you'll see it's not only a 'bit' different.

Re: ASIO4ALL
Service Team.. How difficult would it be to support ASIO? And since I am asking questions... How about support of the new Milkdrop??? Hey ..just asking...

We can tell you if we have implemented it
With chance, one of the next updates will have ASIO support, but currently, we cannot guarantee this.

Well, we have not thought about this point yet. But I think, as MilkDrop I is fine, eg. ASIO support has a far larger priority.
Best regards,

Re: ASIO4ALL
Oh I agree.... ASIO would be my first pick. The new Milkdrop does look pretty nice though being able to take advantage of the higher speed video cards..

For those who wonder why Kmixer not passing a DTS .WAV is relevant, it's because that's the easiest way to test if whether the system is passing bit-perfect signals. It's not easy in all cases to tell if a 44.1K signal has been transcoded to something else, because a PC could be internally doing 44.1k>48K>44.1K and you might think it's fine.
Especially if you are going PC soundcard via Toslink/SPDIF to an outboard receiver with a status indicator. The indicator may say the A/V receiver is getting 44.1K, but it may have been transcoded in the PC without you knowing it. Passing 44.1K DTS will definitely tell you if it's a bit-perfect reproduction path; if it's trancoded, a sound clip will be just white noise. It's like a CSI forensic tool!

Re: ASIO4ALL
Is it possible to implement kernel-streaming too? not everybody´s soundcard has asio-support. My SB Live! for example has no asio-support by creative. I would have to install 3rd-party drivers to get asio-support. Actually I use WinAmp with a kernel-streaming DSP and the difference is really clearly hearable. Bass for example is much more precice and sharper than in the same mp3 played with silverjuke - i testet it a few minutes ago. But the trouble with WinAmp (2.91) is that it can only use ONE VST at ONE time and the program is old and sometimes it just crashes XP without any bluescreens and warnings because of the kernel-streaming plugin wich is rather old too. so please integrate kernel-streaming in silverjuke!! That would be so great!
