Found a bug in silverjuke 2.52 beta1

Postby Symen_4ab » 2. Jul 07, 17:56

Hi !
I downloaded the beta version as I needed the program.layout variable, and I just found a bug.
Don't know if it is in the program itself or in the mp3 files, but I have about 50 tracks (I have over 10'000 mp3s loaded into silverjuke) that are under the "Z" category.
If I look into tracks info, Artist is set to "Z".
I change it to the real artist name, check the "write ID3 tags" checkbox, and click ok. The tracks are then moved to the correct letter section.

Then, when I add new tracks to silverjuke, those tracks are back to the "Z" category, with artist set back to "Z".

ID3 tags seem correct for those files, by the way, ID3V1 and ID3V2 for some tracks.

Would you want me to send a a mp3 file that as problems ? Are you actually working on this ? Am I posting in the wrong forum section ?
Help me ;)

Ouch, sorry for the long delay, had kind of forgot about this ...

Anyway, here I am ;)

For your question in italic, I think I need to reformulate my problem (sorry, english is not my main language..) :
- I have some artists (one actually, and you named it, zz top) that are correctly filed under the "z" letter.
Some others are not. For exemple, my "delinquent habits" cd is under "Z".
Every track name is correctly displayed, but for a reason I don't understand, the "artist" field, when I "ctrl-I" on a track, displays "Z".
(see http://symen.ch/sj/ctrl-i.png )

I then edit the artist field for all the album, (see http://symen.ch/sj/edit-album.png ).

When this is done, the album is filed under the right letter ("D").
If I ctrl-I a track, everything is allright.
(see http://symen.ch/sj/ctrl-i2.png ).

If I press F5, this album returns under "Z", and the artist field is changed back to "Z" too :(

Z is the letter I use for my MP3 drive, if it can help.

Looks like if the ID3 tag is not written to the corresponding MP3 files; only the Silverjuke database seems to be updated in the edit process. So the next update with "F5" re-reads the old stuff from the MP3-files.

The reason for this may be some corrupted MP3 files or a write protected file. Have you tried to edit the tags using another program? Or: If you edit the tags with Silverjuke, does another program recognize the chagnes?

Another explanation would be, that the information "Z" does not come from the ID3 tag, but from the file name - Silverjuke uses the filename if it cannot read the ID3 tag, see . Again, if the database is updated, the information are re-read; again the reason may be some corrupted/defected file; again, can does other programs use the updated tag?

Hopefully, we could give you some tips -
Best regards,
Your Silverjuke Team

PS: English is not my main language, too ... not hard to see, I fear ...
