Well done on 1.5x!
In v1.22 there was a Crossfading checkbox to turn crossfading on or off. This is gone in v1.5x.
Is turning off automatic crossfading and setting manual crossfading to 0 the only way to turn off crossfading? If so, could you put the Crossfading checkbox back in to ease turning crossfading on/off?

There should be no need need to turn manual crossfades off - if you don't want it, simply do not use the "Fade to next" menu item:
