Most often, this behaviour come from erroneous files ...
To find out the problem or the file making problems, you can try to add smaller parts of your music library and see which part will fail.

Thanks for the answer Mob but it's crashing at different areas and only on the windows version, not the mac, which is running and updating fine. I think I might try safe mode with networking to remove background processes and see if it helps. Thanks for the input!
