This topic is somewhat similar to "Multiple Genres in Genre Tag" post. However, mine's a little different.
I really like Frenchi's "Graphite" skin, where you can view a columnar list of Genre's on the left side.
Is it possible to write a script/create skin whereby SJ would read a "subgenre" ID3 tag, and display them on the left column, just like how the Graphite skin works? Or a "mood" tag or any other custom tag for that matter.
I have thousands of albums on SJ, with messed up Genre tags. If I cleaned them up, I would probably try to limit it to up to 20 major genres. However, there are MANY albums what would not fit a generic category. For example I'd classify both George Benson and Isotope as Jazz, but I'd rather have GB as Jazz "lite" and the latter as Jazz "Fusion".
Ideally, one would be able to call up a main genre list in a left column, and when you select the genre "Jazz", another list comes up with the subgenre's of Jazz.
This would also open the possibility of offering selection by Mood. For example, Led Zeppelin's 4th Album I'd classify as Genre: Rock, Subgenre: Classic Rock. However, the track "Battle of Evermore" is a nice acoustic song which I'd perhaps classify as a "mellow" mood. I would not tag all of my music with moods, just some I'd like to group together with a touch of a button. BTW, there's a few online music databases that are using the "mood" concept to further enhance ID'ing music style/type. Allmusic.com is one.
Does anybody else like this concept? The larger you music collection is, the more important it is to refine and filter what you want to hear.

Re: Read User created ID3 Tag? example: Subgenre, Mood, Favo
I have a lot of user created fields for my personal collection, everything from mood, to seasonal (Christmas, etc), even a field for my wife's favorites songs.
I'd love to be able to create Music Selections in SilverJuke based on these fields, instead of relying on the standard ID3 tags.
