Alu Skin

Hi,

I have published my first Skin on the german Skin page (

For this several Skins and Scripts published in this formum by Skinner, Werner and Bjoern Petersen are used.

Due to the fact that this skin is using several functions which are only in the version 2.52 of Silverjuke, please do not try to load this Skin in Silverjuke 2.51: IT WILL NOT WORK!!

The 5 buttons left from the volume slider are for giving the personal rating to the actual played song.

Instead of the standard shuffle function, I have used the script from Skinner to shuffle the playlist.

The Skin is not finalized yet, but I'm waiting for your comments.

althought i like it, there are few points i don t really like.

*In the album view, there s no playlist view at all, just 5 or 6 songs would have been good.

*Still in the album view, the letters are not big enought.

But anyway, that s prettuy good improvment.

what do you think about a vistac skin with the "playlist v iew" and "now playing" as well ??? that would definately be the best ever for me

thanks for your nice comments.

- "no playlist view (5-6 songs) in Album view": you are right, I agree with you, 5-6 songs will be fine. I will think about it and will try to do it. Stay tuned.

- "the letters are not big enough": I do not really understand what you mean: the letters for the songs itself? This you can change by clicking on the "+" or "-" buttons on the right hand side below the slider.

- "vistac skin with playlist and now playing": yeah, might be nice, but I prefer the Alu Skin, but this is only a question of my personal gusto (and perhaps also a little bit of ownership) .

Nevertheless, the Alu skin is not finished (and will probably never be), because I have still some ideas and will continue to add my and your ideas (if I'm able to).

I've updated the Au skin following the request from cyrilius4.

Now 5 titles of the actual playlist are shown i the upper right screen.

Additionally there is now a "mini" layout available, when you click on the small tringle left from the rotary switch.

when i said about the letters s not big enought, i meant the letters in album view, above the cover, the shortcut to the artist...

there were bigger ones in silveriness touched if you see what i mean.

i totally understand about that you want to keep on improving this skin, coz it s yours....

but congratulation, coz that s the first one with the now plaing view and playlist view who work well !!!

is that hard to create a skin ? i have few ideas and i would love to make my own !

sorry if i m picky, but i would also like to be able to fast forward along the track on the blue line underneath the playlist in albuym view and others as well...

Hi Cyril,

ok, understand now what you are looking for regarding the size of the letters. Will check and if I agree on size I will check.

fast forward: you can "pull/push" the blue line (place the mouse a view mm in front of the actual position of the blue line, click and push/pull.
But you are right the area where you can take the line is a little bit small. I will increase this. (is added on the do to list)

is it hard to create a skin? No, what you need is a lot of beer, time and some examples of existing skins, which you can modify to understand the syntax. Download the handbooks from this site (for skinning and scripting download the Silverjuke SDK) and send your wife and kids in holidays, write the phone number of the pizza delivery service in big numbers on the fridge and start.
No I'm kidding: skinning itself is quite easy once when you have understood the philosophy, scripting is a little bit more difficult, but if you have ever programmed in any computer language, it will take only a few moments to step in. And if you are lost: post it here in the forum, somebody will help you in short time.

sorry if i m picky: No reason to be sorry: only with comments like yours we can get skins better and the advantage is not only for you, but for all others too: so, please continue.
