Scripts & DDE Questions

Postby Virgus » 12. Jul 07, 01:46

While waiting for the new beta and the "special "execute" command" I'm testing the scripts features which seems really great.

I have the following questions:

1) Via command line any script execution seem to be verbose; is there a way to make it execute silently?

Found it under the setting option so this and the following question 3 are useless...

4) I wanted to try the dde option via tcp/ip but have no clue or example on how to do it and couldn't find any on the forum; can you point me to that or give me an example to emulate?

5) Is the SJ service something to be installed server-like? Need a clarification on this...

Thanks and ...great job! This Silverjuke is getting better and better!

I'm not sure what you mean with "silently". Beside the desired action, only the will raise the application. All other commands - including the upcoming - do not raise the window and leave the application eg. iconized.

If and how DDE can be used from external applications or SDKs, of course, depends on the external application itself. Some testing routines are described in this forum .

Silverjuke has a built-in DDE server. The server ist started automatically when you start Silverjuke. If you exit Silverjuke, the server is stopped. There is no need to install the DDE server explicitly.

I meant that I always get the pop-up window asking to copy the script to the default path and cannot get rid of that... I suppost this has already been corrected in beta2...

Thanks for the example it gave me a clearer picture of local DDE usage.
I'm still lost about tcp/ip DDE usage though, I'd like to control SJ through a set of http commands over tcp/ip issued from a remote pc or even a wi-fi pocketpc /palm device. Can you give a clue on how to achieve this?

Is it theoretically already possible in version 2.52?

Regards.

virgos, did you manage to get anything working in the end?

Would really like to be able to control silverjuke from another PC with some sort of web interface.

Can this be done with DDE?
Please help!

I believe that Girder automation software () can do this. It has a web server plug-in that can send commands to SilverJuke when an HTTP request is received.

I think Girder could be a bit overkill for this (especially at £50!)
