You can check the MPEG Layer in Silverjuke by clicking the right mouse button on a track and then select "Edit tracks/Get Info" from the context menu. Here, the layer is displayed on the "Info" page (scroll down). If the layer is not "III", read on - otherwise, please tell us more about your problem, see "Contact" in the menu atop.
How can I play MPEG Layer 1 or 2?
In the default Silverjuke configuration the extension *.mp3 is used by the audio decoder module "Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (advanced)" as this audio decoder is available on most Windows systems.
However, the "Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (advanced)" is only capable to play MPEG Layer 3, so you have two possibilities:
- recode the file to MPEG Layer 3 ("real" MP3)
- use another decoder
The last option may be more useful if you have more files of these types. Sometimes, there are already alternative MPEG-decoders installed on you system, so check "Settings/Basic settings/Modules" in Silverjuke first. Otherwise, an overview about decoders that can be used together with Silverjuke is available in the .
Wherever the new decoder comes from, make sure Silverjuke uses the correct one. For this purpose, open "Settings/Basic settings/Modules" and select "Load modules" and then "Update list". If there is another decoder in the list, you can disable the Fraunhofer codec by a double-click and then deselecting "Use this module for the following extensions".
