Still, if you translate vertical movement to horizontal movement, it seems (to me at least) more logical to see right as up, than left as up. Perhaps because it's the reading direction?
So much for intuition, I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

In this case, wouldn't you expect scrolling the wheel down would scroll away from "A" and towards "Z"? And if you then just flip the bar and the album view to
A B C D E F G H I J . . X Y Z
why should the scroll wheel change it's meaning when scrolling up/down?

That's at least a fine workaround. I also think that this error comes from a module or its (or Silverjuke's) interaction with some hardware drivers. Btw: sometimes it's one of the most complicated things to shutdown gracefully...
Regarding the scrollbars, I'm also interested n hearing the opinions from other users. But you can understand my point of view?

I think you are referring . We will check this and make a diff for the last working release - do you know which versions works for you? And have you tries the option? If the error really comes from a module, we cannot do much more than ignoring the error.

Well, I think this is a point of view:
- For the vertical scrolling the action is clear: scrolling the wheel down scrolls the view down.
- For me the action "scrolling down" is simelar to "scrolling right" (both functions will bring you away from the origin)
- And as the "larger" letters are to the right, scrolling down will bring you upward in the alphabet.
