What about supporting skin images without a border? This would make skinning a log easier, it is sometimes a big pain in the you-know-what to update multiple buttons etc.

It's ok if you are really designing a skin with a zillion-layer-, smartobject-, groups-within-groups- based photoshop design, but for just a quick lets-see-what works approach just cropping images from all over as a mockup would be great.

You could suppport a syntax like keeping src="name" unchanged for the border-images, and src1="subimage1", src2="subimage1", etc. for border-less images.
