I have got around using the HttpRequest() stuff right now by writing a text file with all the information that I need, separated by new lines.
As well, I use the basic file commands to locate the album art and copy the image file into the web server directory. This has given me a very nice, smooth, web page that updates all the current track information including album art and ratings.
Next in line is Streaming Audio from the jukebox to the web page. I have researched this quite a bit and have a few questions for anyone out there who may be more knowledgeable than me or may have a good idea on how to accomplish this.
1) Is SilverJuke based off any common media player that already has applications and plugins that support streaming audio (ie a Windows Media Player Engine)? Does anyone know of or has anyone written a plug-in for SilverJuke that can do this? Are there ones out there to download?
2) Are there applications out there that will stream the current output from the sound card? I know you can stream the input and may just run a cable from the line-out to the line-in ... I am just suffering quality loss from my optical cable when I do that.
3) Is this (streaming audio) possible to incorporate into SilverJuke in a next release? Has this been discussed before?
- I have came up with a plan that will work as an interim solution-
I can just grab the song path and copy the current song into the web directoy, and just have streaming controls for that mp3. Every time the song changes, the new file gets copied.
...any ideas on how to get this to work? has anyone tried this yet?
