silverjuke saved our party on the last weekend ... ;)
thanks and keep on the good work!
i just have 2 ideas for using of silverjuke in dj/jukebox-party-mode:
the prelisten mode should be accessible *very* easy to encourage people
to use it before adding songs to the playlist. i think the current solution
(context menu / middle click / switching display during prelisten ... )
is not optimal ... my suggestion is as follows:
a few weeks ago i wrote a rather crappy program to help me to get a quick
overview of my mp3 collection. it's basically a list view of a directory or
the songs in a playlist-file, one song per row. the only "clever" feature of
this program was that a single click on a song directly started playback
at a position in the song that corresponds to the position of the mouse click.
this turned out to be really helpful, it allows to get a pretty good overview
impression of a song with very few clicks, as it is very simple to jump to the
interesting parts of a song.
i think this could be an option for silverjuke as well: as soon as you click on
a song in any view, prelistening starts on your headphones (which doesn't hurt and
uses pretty little ressources anyway). the playback position could be proportional
to the current view/column width. double click enqueues as usual. shouldn't be
too complicated to implement, but i guess it would improve the prelisten
feature a lot.
my second suggestion came to my mind when i was trying to make the dj that night...
i found a number of titles that are nice but have some lame introduction, talking
outro and so on. i thought it would be nice to be able to set start and end markers
(in prelisten mode) to the best fraction of a song and put only the part in between
the markers into the playlist.
This could as well improve silverjuke for a kind of semi-manual dj-usage.
did anyone understand what i meant? ;)
