The idea is pure genius! Obviously I can't give you any credit for the design itself, but the implementation is very clean and believable. I played with it and constantly even tried to resize all the subwindows ;-)

One small idea: use the usew/useh/usepos attribues in you <layout> tag, that way the skin does not jump around when you hide/show a subwindow, making it even more believable.
