I read on the german forum you no longer work on SJ skins, but I hope you could help me solve some issues w/ your excellent Graphite skin.

Issue:
In “Covers” display mode, Album Art display bad, Each Album art has weird border around it, as if the desired image is overlaid on top of a larger, improper image.

PC Setup:
Windows 7 32 bit, autohide taskbar
1024x768 Touchscreen LCD
Silverjuke V3.04, installed as Admin
Graphite-ts 1.66 skin

-Launch SJ as admin, load Graphite-ts 1.66 skin with stock settings
-Enter kiosk mode, everything looks good
-Exit kiosk mode, Console error window sometimes comes up:
-Error: A scrollbar should have 5x3 or 3x5 subimages. Thumb prologue may not be skipped. at <scrollbar target="volslider"x="130"y="65"w="230"src="vol-h-control.png"> [C:/Users/dno/AppData/Roaming/Silverjuke/graphite-ts 1.66.sjs#zip:main.xml]
-See full list @ Log10-18-12-TestConfig.txt
-In Graphite-ts 1.66 skin, change:
-Kiosk>Functionality, enable: Cover View, List View
-Enter kiosk mode, COVERS view shows bad masking
-Switching from COVERS>PLAYLIST>COVERS view, usually this “erases” the bad border
-Changing SKINS>FONTS AND COVERS to 16 pt does not change problem

Notes:
-When you first launch the program/skin, it displays great in windowed mode. But when you enable COVERS mode (in Kiosk options) and switch to KIOSK mode, the bad masking appears.
-The can be reliably seen by changing from COVERS>ALBUM>COVERS, the borders appear around the album art.
-If you change from COVERS>PLAYLIST>COVERS view, usually this “erases” the bad border
-This does not occur when display is 1920x1080, Kiosk mode.

My theory as to the cause:
-When you switch to ALBUM view, the Album Art image is slightly different size. When you switch back to COVERS view, the background masking doesn’t work right, and you see an underlying image (larger than the Album art)
-This effect can be sometimes “corrected” by switching to PLAYLIST view (and then back), because it is all white, and rewrites the background.

So, when switching to KIOSK mode in 1024x768, many console errors occur. It would appear the script to size the Main Album Art does not display properly in certain resolutions, in Kiosk mode.

My questions:

1) Was the graphite-ts 1.66 skin designed to work w/ XGA screen? (1024x768)
2) Can you point me to the code which might fix the "Album Art" Masking?

Thanks in advance,
Log10-18-12-TestConfig.txt

You are always welcome to upload (legal) files to our servers, alphas, betas, finals - everything. Just don't care about space and traffic, this is our problem ;-)

For some reason I thought you couldn't post a skin to a thread unless you "officially" added it as a finished skin. In any case, I considered my modded skin as a sort of beta, since I could very well have broken something since my coding skills are suspect! haha.

Attached is the skin to the SJ server.

I'm flattered you suggested to open a new thread on this, I'll do it if you think it's worthwhile. It would be nice if you could at least try it out real quick, to make sure I didn't break something or otherwise do something dumb. I only tweaked these files:

ts_workspace-artist-skin.xml
ts_workspace-skin.xml
main.xml (minor text change to tag me as modder)
graphite-ts 1.66-XGA.sjs

nice to see that you like the graphite skin.

I have no problem at all that you are modding it, but please (as the guest mentioned here before) use the Silverjuke-Forum for uploads, so that the skins are on one server. My proposal is to open a new thread for your graphite-mod skin, because I will for sure establish later on updates and will probably not be able to handle the modded skins too. So this is up to you.

Cheers

I hope this is ok by you, as I've modded your skin for better XGA Touchscreen navigation. First off, I love this skin! It works great on my regular desktop, but when I tried the "ts" version on my 1024x768 touchscreen, the buttons were wonky and overflowed off the skin. I tried both regular and "ts" varients, and although the regular version does not overflow, the Artist list boxes and the Right Horizontal Slider bar are too small. So, I took your "ts" skin, and made the Artist A-Z buttons smaller (no overflow). I also reduced the Artist list boxes to 14, and increase the button sizes.

This is my first attempt at modding a skin, and I cant' really say I knew what I was doing; however, it seems to work better for me now. Let me know what you think!

just uploaded an update on the German page. This upload is correcting a problem related to the update of the filter databases.

(I have to admit that the above mentioned problem regarding the playlist is not corrected yet).
This will come later.

Download as usual from the german page.

Cheers

Hi Frenchi, I'm just reminding you (as you have suggested) to correct it. ;-)

Could you not give the matter some attention right now? If you keep on investing all your time in the contest you will put us all out of the running :-(

Oops. You are right. Never detected this before.

Not so easy. I have to check how to dis-connect both playlists. Will try to find a solution after the Skin contest. If needed, remind me to correct it.

I found a minor error.

If you are in Album Mode, or Cover Mode, the playlist display shows all songs loaded to the end. (in this case to track 18).

But, when switched to Playlist Mode, the display only shows the first 5 tracks. As you can see by the attachment there are still 18 tracks in the playlist.

Can you point me to the code to fix this?

Thank you,
Richard

Why, you ask? When in Kiosk mode, you have the option of not allowing/not showing the volume control. Now, the playlist selection is also affected by this.

I am working on other changes as well. Hopefully I will finish today, but still trying to get my head around the code.

Richard

I like this feature, BUT here are a few options that would make it better (I don't know if it is possible in a skin):

1) Password protected? If people are selecting songs they want to hear, it is not nice to have someone come along and choose a playlist that starts - over riding the already selected songs. It would be better for a "manager" to select the playlist and enter a password.

Also, maybe the playlist can be added to the end of the currently playing list - so it does not over ride the currently playing songs.

2) In the beginning of an evening when people are not around selecting songs, it would be nice to have a playlist running and then when someone selects a song from the database, the songs is played as the next song in the playlist (kind of like itunes "play next").

3) Much like #2, it would be nice to default back to a playlist after all selections have been played and there are no more "user" selections to play.

Like I said, I don't know if these are possible in a skin, but thought I'd ask.

Thank you very much for this - it is a great skin.
Richard
